- CO-OP:
AOC’s new creative media program for Acadiana teens ages 12-18
-
Join the Co-Op Movement!
-
Co-Op is a place for teens to get involved with other teens their age
and use media to tell the stories they want to tell. Students will
produce a number of projects throughout the program including a
community engagement and update show, music videos, and
mini-documentaries, among others.
-
“Our new program focuses on giving teens a place of their own, a place
to be creative and productive with other teens,” said Ed Bowie,
executive director of AOC. “This is not your normal after-school
program, daycare or place to hangout. Instead Co-Op is a jumping off
point for teens to discover more about creating meaningful media and
more about themselves as contributing members of our community.”
- AOC
staff members along with local professionals will teach the students
technical production skills from concept to post-production. AOC will
then submit the students’ content to national film festivals once their
projects are completed.
-
Professional development skills are also a large part of the program.
Students will learn how to conduct interviews, do appropriate research,
complete a finished project, and to present that project in competition.
Local business professionals will work with the students to show them
new career fields as well as elements of professional conduct.
-
Co-Op is open to AOC members at no cost. If applicants are not current
members, student memberships are $25 a year.
- For
more information about Co-Op, email
info@aocinc.org or call (337)
232-4434.
