This Thursday - Third Annual Robideaux Report Celebrates Local Culture, Organizations & Opportunities

No Cost to Attend Parish-Wide Address and Community Showcase

Lafayette Mayor-President Joel Robideaux’s parish-wide address, the Robideaux Report, and Community Showcase brings together local artists, musicians, restauranteurs, food purveyors, cultural organizations, technology partners and more. The third annual event is this Thursday, March 14 at the Heymann Performing Arts Center, with the address beginning at 6 p.m., and the showcase following at approximately 7 p.m. The Robideaux Report is FREE to attend.

Robideaux will review the opportunities and challenges the community has seen in recent years, as well as the important issues facing Lafayette Parish today and in the future. Some of these topics include jobs and diversifying the economy, budget priorities and taxes, progress on drainage projects, the charter amendment, LUS and LUS Fiber, and important news on the No Kill 2020 initiative.

“I look forward to addressing the citizens of Lafayette Parish, highlighting some of the accomplishments we have achieved and discussing the challenges that lie ahead,” stated Robideaux. “As we continue to move forward as a parish, I also plan to unveil several new initiatives that will make government more transparent, customer service-oriented and efficient.”

Following the address, all in attendance are invited to enjoy free admission to the Community Showcase, celebrating the elements that make Lafayette Parish a great place to live, work and play. “It will be an evening celebrating our past and our looking forward to our collective future,” Robideaux said. Attendees will have the opportunity to see performances by local artists and interactive displays from organizations and individuals from across the parish. “I am proud of the array of components that will be represented at the showcase. There’s something for everyone.”

Showcase attendees can expect live performances of original songs by participants at Lafayette’s SOLO Songwriters Workshop, followed by a special live performance by members of the Blue Monday All Stars, Lil Buck Sinegal, Lee Allen Zeno and Steve Adams.

Cultural and historical presentations and displays from organizations include AcA, Bare Walls, Basin Arts, Blue Monday All Stars & Love of People, Bryant Benoit Gallery, CODOFIL, Center for Louisiana Studies,  Grace Hamilton Dance Academy, McComb-Veazey, Moncus Park, PACE and Student Arts Expo with Lafayette Parish School System, Vermilionville, Waitr and more.

The showcase will also feature displays of community organizations, upcoming projects and technology partners such as ADP, Ascension Episcopal School, Bayou Vermilion District, CGI, Downtown Lafayette, Lafayette Animal Shelter and Care Center, Lafayette Parks and Recreation, Lafayette Public Library, Lafayette Travel, Lafayette Utilities System, Louisiana Economic Development, Louisiana Entertainment, LUS Fiber, Project Front Yard, Sales Force, The Millennial Group, The705, UL Informatics, the University of Louisiana and more.
