South Louisiana Giving Day secures more than 100 Acadiana Organizations

South Louisiana Giving Day will be held on Thursday, May 9

LAFAYETTE, LA - South Louisiana (SOLA) Giving Day, an event of Community Foundation of Acadiana (CFA), will be held on Thursday, May 9  beginning at midnight and ending at 11:59:59 p.m. CST.

At least 103 nonprofit organizations, churches, and schools are participating in this 24-hour online fundraising event. Donors can view the participating organizations by visiting www.solagivingday.org.

Currently, matching gift donations totaling $508,500 have been secured to support 30 organizations. A matching donation is a charitable contribution by private donors that will match the general public’s donations dollar for dollar.

Love Our Schools has received the largest matching donation of $300,000. Love Our Schools is an initiative by the William C. Schumcher Family Foundation and Love Acadiana to renovate eight schools in the transformation zone in Lafayette Parish School System.

A list of the organizations who have received matching donations can be found online at www.solagivingday.org/matchinggifts.

Donors may participate by visiting www.solagivingday.org using a computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone.  The process for making a tax-deductible donation is flexible including the ability to schedule donations today through May 8, or donors can donate on May 9.

SOLA Giving Day is an opportunity for Acadiana nonprofit organizations, churches and schools to fundraise for a general purpose, for a specific initiative or program.

SOLA Giving Day will award $23,000 in cash prizes to top performing organizations.
