MUSE #1: Storytelling Through Animation
AOC is partnering with the Lafayette Reads Together (LRT) initiative, a community-wide reading program hosted by the Lafayette Public Library! In this workshop, students will learn and discuss the basic concepts of animation. They will learn to give life and motion to characters through experimenting with the basic walk/run cycle.
MUSE #2: Podcast 101
Students will learn the basic skills and tools to produce their own podcasts! They will learn helpful tips for brainstorming topic ideas, scripting an episode, and voice recording.
MUSE #3: Voice Performance with Robin Small-McCarthy
Back by popular demand, New York Writer/Poet and Theater educator Robin Small-McCarthy returns to share her expertise on some effective voice techniques to deliver a convincing voice performance. Robin is a dynamic vocal coach and mentor who has dedicated the past 30+ years to teaching, directing and developing the performing arts in schools, universities, and community centers across the country.
MUSE #4: Intro to YouTube with Lane Fournerat
In this workshop, students will learn and discuss the ins and outs of producing content for YouTube with Lafayette resident and family travel blogger Lane Fournerat. Lane has been creating and managing YouTube productions for the past 10 years, with his current YouTube channels totaling over 100,000+ subscribers combined!
Muse #5: Graphic Design 101
Students will practice digital drawing exercises to design and produce basic graphic lines, shapes, and figures. They will also experiment with producing their own fun, unique logos!
MUSE #6: Creative Expression with PoeticSoul
Spoken word poet and Lyrically Inclined founder Alex “PoeticSoul” Johnson will be hosting some fun expressive exercises for students to unleash their inner voice and creativity.
MUSE #7: Basics of B-Roll Video
Students will dive deep into the use and purpose of A-Roll and B-Roll footage and how to compose professional video shots. They will use AOC’s video equipment to capture footage throughout our studio.
MUSE #8: Video Editing
Students will learn how to navigate Final Cut Pro X, AOC’s most popular video editing software. They will use previously recorded footage to edit together a quirky AOC promo!
MUSE #9: Acting for the Stage & the Studio with Bruce Coen
Performing Actor and Talented Theater instructor Bruce Coen will discuss some powerful techniques on how to communicate your authentic self whether on stage, on camera, or on the radio!
MUSE #10: Festival Fun - How to Shoot a Live Show
In the spirit of Festival season, students will take the lead as the camera crew for some fun, wacky in-studio performances! Students are welcome to bring their own talent acts as well! (ex: musical instrument, song and dance, etc.)
MUSE #11: Audio Production in Audacity
Students will learn and practice with the basic tools of Audacity digital recording software. They will put their vocal performance skills to the test reading short scripts, and then bring those clips to life with cool editing techniques!
MUSE# 12: Last Spring session!
Join us for our last MUSE session of the school year! Students will be treated to snacks and beverages, and some surprise activities!
