LAFAYETTE - United Way of Acadiana (UWA) announces a $10,000 grant from the Truist Foundation. The grant will support the launch of UWA’s Nonprofit Center.

The Nonprofit Center formalizes many of United Way of Acadiana’s current programs and activities under one umbrella. The Nonprofit Center is positioned as a hub fostering connections and communications for local area nonprofits to help improve the Acadiana community. Focused on connectivity, partnership and collaboration, the Nonprofit Center’s goal is to increase mission impact among organizations by increasing communication and access to support services for nonprofit leaders.

“At United Way of Acadiana, we know that the community is stronger when the nonprofit sector is strengthened,” said Carlee Alm-LaBar President/CEO. “For us, launching the Nonprofit Center is a way for us to bring the work together that is already active within the United Way family and connect it to create a larger impact for the community.”

Under the Nonprofit Center umbrella, UWA will continue to host its bi-monthly Nonprofit Meetups, provide training opportunities to nonprofits, host community events at no charge at UWA facilities, encourage coordination by funders and organizations, and connect nonprofits on shared software platforms, including Get Connected -- UWA’s Volunteer Center platform (powered by Parish Proud). “On behalf of Truist Foundation, we’re pleased to support United Way of Acadiana launch its Nonprofit Center,” said André Comeaux, business insurance broker at McGriff Insurance, a Truist affiliate, and former chairman of the board of directors for United Way of Acadiana. “The Nonprofit Center will serve as an important hub for collaboration to help drive growth and sustainability of the great work nonprofits are doing to strengthen our community.”
