Storm Debris Collection Update

Storm debris collection continues through Lafayette Consolidated Government’s (LCG) contractor, DRC Emergency Services (DRC). DRC is responsible for picking up the loose piles of yard waste debris. DRC is using a zoned approach beginning around the Vermilion River corridor, and spreading outward to every street in the City of Lafayette and unincorporated areas of the parish.

Plans for New Animal Shelter Move Forward

Lafayette Parish is one step closer to a new animal shelter. Earlier today, Mayor-President Joel Robideaux signed an ordinance that re-allocates funds for the construction of a new Lafayette Animal Shelter and Care Center (LASCC). Shelter staff, volunteers and representatives of partnering animal advocacy organizations were present for the signing. This measure was approved by the Council at the July 16 council meeting.

Lafayette Science Museum Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Moon Landing

A full schedule of events is planned to commemorate the Apollo 11 mission

Lafayette, LA – This summer marks the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11, the first piloted landing

on the moon. To celebrate, Lafayette Science Museum has a full schedule of events planned

including a Documentary Date Night screening of the award-winning film Apollo 11 at 7pm on

Thursday, July 18, and Apollo-Palooza from 10 am to 6pm at LSM on Saturday, July 20

culminating with a Star Party at Picard Park from 9-10pm.

The Big Tent postponed until Tuesday, July 23

LAFAYETTE — The Carlee for Lafayette campaign will postpone its Big Tent town hall event until Tuesday, July 23 in order to accommodate any Lafayette Parish residents still dealing with the effects of Hurricane Barry on Monday. The event will take place from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Cajundome Convention Center.
